3500 BC - Wheel

The wheel is one of important mechanical invention of all time. based on diagrams on ancient clay tablets, The earliest known use of this essential invention was a potter's wheel in Mesopotamia as early as 3500 BC.

1450 – Patent:

Patents were systematically granted in Venice as of 1450, where they issued a decree by which new and inventive devices had to be communicated to the Republic in order to obtain legal protection against potential infringers. The period of protection was 10 years. As Venetians emigrated, they sought similar patent protection in their new homes. This led to the diffusion of patent systems to other countries.

1769 – Steam Engine:

James Watt was a Scottish inventor and mechanical engineer, who was renowned for his improvements of the steam engine. In 1765, James assigned the task of repairing a Newcomen engine, That started the inventor to work on several improvements to Newcomen's design.

Most notable was Watt's 1769 patent for a separate condenser connected to a cylinder by a valve. Watt's engine soon became the dominant design for all modern steam engines and helped bring about the Industrial Revolution.

1876 - Telephone:

Alexander Graham Bell was awarded the first U.S. patent for the invention of the telephone in 1876. However, others inventors before Bell had worked on the development of the telephone and the invention had several pioneers.

1879 – Light bulb:

The first public demonstration of the Thomas Edison's incandescent lighting system was in December 1879 and was granted a U.S. patent, when the Menlo Park laboratory complex was electrically lighted. Edison spent the next several years creating the electric industry.

The Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, usually known as the Berne Convention, is an international agreement governing copyright, which was first accepted in Berne, Switzerland, in 1886.

1901 – Nobel Prize:

The Nobel Prize is a set of annual international awards bestowed in a number of categories by Swedish and Norwegian committees in recognition of cultural and/or scientific advances. The will of the Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel established the prizes in 1895. The prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peacewere first awarded in 1901.

1946 – Mobile phone (AT&T):

June 17, 1946 - A driver in St. Louis, Mo., pulled out a handset from under his car's dashboard, placed a phone call and made history. It was the first mobile telephone call. A team including Alton Dickieson and D. Mitchell from Bell Labs and future AT&T CEO H.I. Romnes, worked more than a decade to achieve this feat.

1957 – Personal Computer:

The IBM 610 was designed between 1948 and 1957 by John Lentz at the Watson Lab at Columbia University as the Personal Automatic Computer (PAC) and announced by IBM as the 610 Auto-Point in 1957. The IBM 610 is according to Columbia University, the first personal computer because it was the first programmable computer intended for use by one person and controlled from a keyboard.

1967 – WIPO:

WIPO mission is to lead the development of a balanced and effective international intellectual property (IP) system that enables innovation and creativity for the benefit of all. Its mandate, governing bodies and procedures are set out in the WIPO Convention, which established WIPO in 1967. In 1974, WIPO became a specialized agency of the United Nations system of organizations, with a mandate to administer intellectual property matters recognized by the member States of the UN.

1967 – CES:

The CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards is an annual competition honoring outstanding design and engineering in consumer electronics products. The International CES is the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. Held in US every year, it has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies, the global stage where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace.

1976 – Apple:

On April 1976, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs released the Apple I computer and started Apple Computers. The Apple I was the first with a single circuit board used in a computer. Apple has more than thousand patents. Apple set out to change the world with innovative computers and gadgets, again and again.
